Oaxaca Aquí Mexico City

Ana from Mexico City

About me I'm a tutor of Spanish as a Foreign Language. I enjoy watching movies, reading about diverse topics, and exploring the city. In Mexico, every region of the country has it's own local culture. This means that in every place you will find different music, different handicrafts and, of course, different - but always delicious - food. That is why in Mexico City we have so many restaurants specialized in food from other parts of the country: Puebla, Sonora, Yucatán, and, as you have probably guessed, Oaxaca.

Oaxaca Aquí is a little restaurant in Santa María la Ribera. Regarding the menu... Well, I am no impartial judge: I love mole negro so much that every time I visit this place it is impossible for me to try any other thing. Tejate is also definitely a must. It is a traditional drink made from corn and cocoa and mamey seeds. Really refreshing.

In case you need even more reasons to visit this place, Oaxaca Aquí is located right in the middle of a privileged neighborhood where you will find two great museums (Geology and Chopo), the beautiful Kiosko Morisco, the splendid Biblioteca Vasconcelos and the alternative Tianguis Cultural el Chopo (only on Saturdays).

The places I like the most, are those that I find the most authentic, the spots that either have a distinctive vibe of their own or the ones that better convey the cultural traits of the place they belong to. Why I love my city Once the capital of a great empire, the first big city in the Americas, a bridge between Europe and Asia, and a refuge for intellectuals from all over the world, Mexico City has been a cultural melting pot through...
