With Mexico being one of the top Latin American countries the most vegan/vegetarian inhabitants, it comes as no surprise that many traditional dishes have left meat for other plant-based substitutes. Located in front of Parque Naciones Unidas (AKA Parque Las Américas) in Narvarte, Malportaco offers a variety of popular Mexican deliciousness. Although it is not widely advertized as such, 100% of Malportaco's menu is plant-based.
The restaurant has a few tables outside, a small bar and some more tables inside. It is small but cozy. At night, it is lit by candles and dim lights, making it the perfect spot for a romantic dinner. However, it is also a great spot to eat with friends and drink some artisanal beer.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. My personal favorite is the chicharron taco, and their "agua del día" never disappoints.
The minimum amount to pay with card is $100mxn, so be sure to bring cash if you're not that hungry.
