One of the first things that surprised me about skateboarding is how supporting the skater community is. If you are trying to get into skateboarding and a more experienced skater sees you struggling, he or she will try to help you in some way. I am not going to lie, I am not an experienced skateboarder in any sense. I have just recently gotten into it because I feel like it is a great outdoor activity where I can still practice social distancing and to get your mind off of everything that is going on in the world. I swear that time goes by quickly when you are trying to learn a trick on a skateboard. And the feeling of getting a trick that you’ve been practicing for hours is one of the best feelings in the world.

Skatepark Parque Lira was one of the first skateparks in Mexico City and it has just been renovated by the city’s government. You could never tell that the park is no more than 40 feet away from a noisy avenue given that  Skatepark Parque Lira is in the middle of a beautiful park surrounded by trees and vegetation. The park has ramps that are good for doing skateboarding, roller skating or even bicycle tricks. Mexico City government’s intentions on renovating Skatepark Parque Lira is to encourage kids and adults to try a sport that has been usually associated with rebellious teenagers.
