Each time I'm craving Mexican, I run to El rey del taco! I'm sure to find the festive atmosphere unique to Mexicans and it's also a great opportunity to practice my Spanish.
I make sure to sit on the terrace (in summer) that has a view on Jean-Talon market, the perfect spot for some people-watching and fresh food-sniffing. El rey del taco is more than a restaurant, it’s also a supermarket where you’ll find all you need to cook your own tacos, tostadas and quesadillas.
The menu is very varied, what’s your favorite?
Quesadillas, nachos, guacamole, grilled meats, soups (oooh pozole!), burritos, cactus salad, tacos (try the Al pastor), sandwiches, seafood, churros… Can't decide? Then come for breakfast and enjoy the classic huevos rancheros or divorciados with the 2-colored sauce and a picther of Horchata - delicious milky drink made of rice, almonds, vanilla and cinnamon. The best of the authentic Mexican cuisine. Disfruta!
The staff is nice, the cook is always behind its grill and the music can make you swing and sing! Great way to travel, fast and cheap.
Viva Mexico!
