The picture to illustrate this article is from the first of the two shows I attended in September 2023 at the Fairmount Theatre. This was for the artist Rival Consoles (UK) which was pretty good, a few days before Two Lanes (DE), who were pretty good as well. But don't think the venue is only for electronic music, I have been there before for other artists from other genres, from locals to groups touring in North America; luckily for us in Montreal, they often stop by in our city.
I usually like live venues, the way they change from show to show and how the atmosphere transforms itself when the show starts. This one is interesting because it's all in length, with a stage in the middle to the right and a bar on the left side stretched on almost half of the space. There are also platforms on both sides of the stage, but you will not have to twist your neck to see the artist or band performing.
One last thing is the feeling of losing sense of where you are; despite being located above a grocery store, you have stairs to climb to enter the space. You could think you are actually in a basement somewhere as the ceiling is pretty low, but no, you're just in a spaceship travelling with the music.
