Winter in Montreal is no joke, with temperatures often below zero, strong winds, and, of course – lots and lots of snow. It’s the perfect season and the perfect reason to stay indoors and stay warm, wearing a bulky sweater and drinking a hot beverage. But if your home hot chocolate isn’t cutting it, a visit to Makaya Chocolat & Bistro is definitely in order.
Located on Boulevard Saint-Joseph in the Old Lachine neighbourhood only a block away from H8S Coffee Bar, Makaya creates a warm and cozy vibe through its lighting and decor - exactly what you want during the coldest times of the year. Not only was the owner friendly, he was also informative, providing details on the uniqueness of the cocoa in his drinks, imported all the way from Haiti.
Since my visit, they’ve expanded their menu to include a variety of crepes, soups and other hot dishes. While my mochaccino was delicious, on my next visit, I hope to be brave enough to try the spicy hot chocolate made with chilli peppers to really heat me up!
