Located between McGill street and St-Pierre street on Notre-Dame West, Wishbone Art Gallery is an oasis of freshness and gentleness in Old Montreal. It's an art space "dedicated to showcasing emerging and established contemporary artistic talents," to quote their website.
Opening an art gallery is a crazy project - they did it during the pandemic, and the result is pretty good! Knowing some of the people there, I may be biased, but I come back each time I can when a new show is scheduled, so it's more than just knowing the people. The artists they support are pretty interesting and I like the way each of them occupies the space for a few weeks.
And the space - let's talk about it. It might be small, but it feels spacious with its giant windows and high walls. The facade blends perfectly with the neighbouring addresses. It's in one of the most iconic parts of Notre-Dame street with its old buildings, but once inside the red bricks are there to remind you are in Montreal.
Don't hesitate to pass by while visiting the old town - you will escape the tourists and who knows, maybe find a piece of art that touches you. The represented artists usually have a variety of formats and prices available.
