Since moving to Oslo from London I’ve missed going for a proper curry. Grønland has some great cheap Pakistani canteen-style places but sometimes you want something a bit cooler. Der Peppern Gror does just that: a full service restaurant with a refreshing and modern take on Pakistani cuisine.
The menu is divided into street-style dishes and more traditional main courses. The menu is divided into street food, grills, homestyle and curries, with quite a few vegetarian options. We couldn’t decide so went for the tasting menu which was unbeatable value at 410kr for a mix of street food, mains to share and dessert. The food was really tasty, clean and with an interesting flavor combinations with just the right level of heat. I loved the Vada Pao, a type of veggie burger served in a minibun (160kr), and of course a mango lassi to drink. The portions were really generous and our attentive waitress was quick to offer us a doggie bag for our leftovers.
A welcome addition to the Oslo curry scene, perfect to warm you up on a cold Oslo evening!
