Philadelphia is known for many different things but one thing that I don't think the city gets enough recognition for is that it has one of the best mural arts programs in the whole world. The city has all different kinds of murals from whimsical to serious to historical. Then there are the ones that are just for arts sake. You could make a day or more just hunting down this free public art scattered all over the city.
There is now a new addition that is unlike any of the others. This new mural is interactive; almost like a magic eight ball. The Atlas of Tomorrow was created by artist Candy Chang to bring awareness to mental health as well as to allow passersby to contemplate where their lives are heading. With this new mural, a large dial has been installed on the wall that you spin for 64 different outcomes. Before taking a spin, think of a problem that you would want to take to a friend or to ask your future self, something that you have been struggling with. The wheel will help you follow the path you should be on whether you think you are struggling or not.
The mural was created by finger painting over 200,000 dots by Candy and the people of the community that make up the images.
