Di Bruno Brothers have been a staple in South Philadelphia since 1939. They have forever been known as "The House of Cheese" serving specialty cheeses from all over the world. Their original location in the heart of the Italian Market is still going strong but if it is variety you are after, then you will more than likely find it at their much larger store they opened in 2005 in Rittenhouse Square area. Â
The gourmet grocery store offers their usual specialty cheeses and meats but has also added gourmet prepared foods. This is a great place to come and get everything you need for a picnic. It is great to get a bag full of cheeses, meats, bread, and of course dessert and take it to Rittenhouse park for a picnic. If you forgot your blanket, well not to worry. They have a whole seating area upstairs along with some outdoor seating in the front. Â
It is also just a great place to pop in and sample a variety of cheeses since they have samples of almost all of the cheeses they sell. My favorite is the havarti with apricot.
