A true rendition of a past generation, The Franklin Mortgage & Investment Co. is located in a Rittenhouse basement, serving pre-prohibition style punch and cocktails in a speakeasy atmosphere. Named in honor of the largest illegal alcohol ring in America, operating in Philadelphia during the Prohibition era, The Franklin Mortgage & Investment Co. exists as a reminder of our colorful history.
Outside a friendly gentleman waits to greet visitors of the establishment. Upon following him down a flight of stairs to an unassuming black doorway, guests are guided within. Inside, Franklin Mortgage has both a homey and VIP vibe, garnered by dim lighting, leather booths, and matching marble tables and bar. The setting and a crew of informative and attentive servers put me instantly at ease.
The bartenders here take their craft seriously. Using a variety of fresh ingredients, top shelf liquor, and good taste, the bar has designed a rotation of quality innovative and classic cocktails. Ordering a beer here is undoubtedly sinful.
