Porto is getting more and more touristic. And if that can have its downsides, it sure has it upsides. Sandeira is a reflexion of a young and international side of Porto, where good ideas from the outside are coming in the backpacks of the travelling generation.
So, Sandeira is basically an adaptation of Barcelona's Madame Jasmin sandwiches, but is has a strong identity behind it: for example, each sandwich borrows the name from a place or icon of Porto. It has a good take-away service, which is mandatory, since Sandeira resumes basically to a small narrow room. The decoration is pleasing and cosy, and the hungry clientele is generally composed by young adults, most of them artists (or artistically looking).
The sandwiches are a great alternative to the more heavy meals usually found in Porto, with a lot of different ingredients, pleasing not only the veggies but also the meat lovers.
The self-proclaimed best sandwiches in Porto might not be the best per se, but are probably the first of many types of restaurants providing this kind of food.
