Chocolate can be a passion and a vice - a good one! Chocolataria Equador helps me with both... As the people there say, it's more than a shop, it's an experience. Indeed it is.
The first thing you'll notice when entering the shops is the perfume of chocolate. It's dense, and you can almost taste it. Then you'll see all kinds of chocolates carefully displayed in this vintage-looking store. Which to choose?
The space isn't big, but they have a large variety of different chocolates: different origins, different flavours, different formats. What they have in common is they are all handmade and delicious! You can find bonbons/pralinès, truffles, tablets, bits, or other thematic formats (such as Christmas or Easter), as well as coffees and hot chocolates. All we're entitled to! I always buy dark chocolates (70% up), and sometimes tablets (dark chocolate with fruit fillings).
Equador has also been presenting several chocolates blended with Port Wine! It doesn't get any better than this, right?
Besides a Lisbon store (Bairro Alto, of course), Coimbra, Braga, and Spain, in Porto, they now have three different locations in Porto, all downtown: Rua Sá da Bandeira 637 (“upper" downtown), Rua das Flores 298 (near S. Bento Station), and Rua Sousa Viterbo 103 (close be Mercado Ferreira Borges / Palacio da Bolsa). All the shops have great decor, and - best of all - they are sooo tasty!
Chocolate as it should be.
