All year around, on sunny days it's mandatory to enjoy the sunlight as much as possible, so a place I like to go quite a lot is Casa D'Oro.
This place is divided into three, downstairs they have a more formal Italian restaurant à la Carte, upstairs is a more casual pizzeria with common tables and a narrow balcony on the 2nd floor and an amazing terrace on the 3rd. All levels have an overwhelming view, since we're at the top of the river (you'll truly feel like you're on a boat), almost under the Arrábida bridge on one side, and on the other we can see the river Douro meeting the Ocean. In addition to this view from the terrace, my favorite part, the food is delicious, especially the thin and crisp pizzas (pesto pizza is the best) or lasagna, the homemade cold tea and do not forget the (quite big) Nutella focaccia, try to share even if you're a Nutella fan.
The place is very kid friendly (who doesn't love pizza?!) and typically for lunch during the weekend this is a really nice place to take the kids out, so for a more quiet meal I always prefer to stay outside on the upper floor, where it doesn't get as loud and the view is even better. This terrace is open during lunch and dinner, and at night, with all the lights this sight gets even more magical.
Enjoy!
