In a city where restaurants give interior design an equal amount of attention as to the food they serve, it is no easy feat to stand out for both. Bagolina Eatery in Prishtina did just that, not once, but three times. In three different locations around the capital of Kosovo, Bagolina attracts a diverse crowd that all has a love of good food and good fun in common.
My favorite of the three is the original place, just a few minutes walking distance from the National Library of Kosovo. It promises a creative and contemporary food concept, and it delivers on that promise. The menu is a feast for the eyes and the taste buds and a journey around the world map of gastronomy. One can find there New York bagels, the authentic Turkish börek, the Italian Panzerotti and Milanese risotto, and the Vienna schnitzel.
The coffee is Kosovo-quality good but you can ask for spiced-up coffee versions too. If you visit, do not miss the local brunch tray. An absolute must. Besides the great food, the place offers an exquisite interior, where the turquoise seats blend beautifully with wooden chairs and tables, with the explosion of colorful roses that cover the walls, under the dramatic effect of overhead lights and the living tree inside. Their cocktails only make your time there better. All in all, a superior experience in the heart of Prishtina.
La Tarté is on the ground floor of a residential building, one of the several cool bars on each side of it. A perfect spot for a quick lunch break!

My personal favorite thing to get here is Shef, which has tomato sauce, ham, Sharr cheese (from the mountains of Southern Kosovo), mozzarella, and spinach.
