Those are just some of the many possibilities to rest in the fresh air in this park with long walking trails, pine trees, benches for picnics and resting zones. This is what Mežaparks is about.
It's located on the coast of lake Ķīšezers, near the Riga Zoo, reachable by bike or tram nr. 11 – about 40 minutes from the center of Riga. In the grounds of the park there is also the big stage, the Great Bandstand – also called the Song Festival Bandstand or Open-Air Stage. The Bandstand has added cultural value to Riga since 1955, when the Latvian Song and Dance Festival was moved to this venue, but also world known pop stars have held their live performances here – Lady Gaga, Bryan Adams, Kings of Leon and others.
If you're tired from the city's energy and need some rest or active recreation – Mežaparks is one of the best options to choose.
