Trastevere is the nightlife capital of Rome on a Saturday night - especially if you're a tourist or an American student. The streets are packed, and almost all the bars are full - it can be difficult to find a place to meet friends that has spare seats and won't cost the earth!
Fortunately, right in the centre, there is Big Hilda. It's actually a pretty big bar, and even on a Saturday there's almost always space to come in and sit down. The best part about it? Between 5 and 10pm every day is Happy Hour - glasses of wine are €3.50 and cocktails between €4 - 5. It's a really relaxed pub environment, and you can stay there for as long as you like - they also do food, if you get hungry! All this makes it a great spot to have a few drinks on a Saturday night, away from the chaos outside.
All the cocktails are good - not fancy, but tasty nonetheless. I'd recommend the Caipiroska alla Fragola, or just a Spritz or a prosecco.
