In San Francisco, we take our burritos very seriously. Asking the innocent question "where can I get a good burrito" can start trouble.
My favourite place changes as my palate matures. Papalote is now the place where I go and recommend to others. They have two locations. The one in the Mission is good and caters to the local hipsters. There's more seating available. The location near Golden Gate Park is smaller but just as busy. Many locals showed love for their favorite taqueria during the pandemic by showing up for take-out-only orders, like an extended family.
Both offer great Mexican food. The famous Papalote Salsa is loved by locals. You often see people adding a jar, or two, to their order. The Naked Burrito is popular. It's a burrito without the tortilla.
There are choices for everyone, meat lovers, seafood lovers, vegetarians and even vegans. It's a big meal. This is one of my guilty pleasures at the end of a long day.
