I don't know who the original Victoria is, but she's a true hero. Her pastry shop has repeatedly prompted me to travel across town, solely to enjoy one of its famed cannoli. Walking into this place is really a test of one's self control. From cheesecake to cookies, everything they have to offer is delicious.
I vividly remember a day when my mother and I went for our routine cannoli run, only to find that Victoria's was no longer there. It was a dark moment. We turned home...only to find that it had moved a few blocks away, leaving its original location of 100 years. The day was saved. When I take people to show them around North Beach, which is a whole other adventure of its own, Victoria's is one of the first stops.
As historic and authentic as many of the restaurants in North Beach are, Victoria's is the pastry equivalent. Cranking out the same good stuff since 1914, they've established themselves as a premier bakery in both the neighborhood and the city itself. Though they have moved from their original location, it still has that classic feel which only makes their goods taste that much better.
