Nestled away in the Rincon Center in SoMa, Yank Sing is a joy for those willing to treat themselves to a great dim sum experience. I had heard about Yank Sing for a while from friends who had visited and even had celebrity sightings here! It's possible to make a reservation on Open Table in advance, because the line starts early and the place (although a large dining room) does fill up quickly.
When there, we went to town and pulled lots of different dishes off the carts coming by. Some of my personal favorites are: shumai (shrimp and pork steamed dumplings), hum bao (bbq pork steamed buns), potstickers, the duck pillows, and the soup dumplings. You can request things from the waiters to have them bring them to you faster, or just wait until you see something on a cart as it goes around.
The price tag is expensive, but it's a great meal and worth a splurge. Dim sum is a great alternative to traditional breakfast and I highly recommend it for the adventurous eater!
