If you come to Sarajevo, sooner or later somebody is going to say “You are Tito!”, In Bosnian slang, it means “you are awesome”. So guess what we think about Cafe Tito?
Cafe Tito is one of the most unique cafes in Sarajevo. When I enter the cafe I am always greeted by the “Death to fascism, liberty to the people“ sign. I like going there because people are really nice and there is a lot of room to reminisce about Yugoslavia. Lot of things inside it make me laugh or ponder. Cafe Tito is riddled with ornaments and artifacts from Tito era: photos, items like telephones and TVs, statues etc…
In front of Cafe Tito, there are exhibits of full-sized, genuine weapons from the Yugoslavian Army: mortars, tanks, helicopters etc… Kids love those and they eagerly use them as a playground. I could go to Cafe Tito any time of the day to have a cup coffee or to enjoy an unplugged concert or a DJ.
You can find Cafe Tito behind Sarajevo Museum of History. The easiest way to get there is exiting the tram at the National Museum station, or by walking through Wilson’s Promenade.
