Kedai Makan is one of those hole-in-the-wall sort of food joints in Seattle. They started as a take away food stall right in the center of the busy Capital hill neighborhood. It used to be the go-to place for many locals to grab delicious Roti Kanai (fluffy bread with lentil soup or meat curry) after a pub crawl in the neighborhood. Now it's converted into a full-fledged restaurant and bar but the food remains the same with a little twist in the menu.
They specialize in Malaysian street food. Their most famous items on the menu are Roti Jala (net bread with lentil curry or lamb curry) and Roti Babi (bread stuffed with beef) and they are definitely my go-to items on the menu. Apart from that I also like their chili pan mee noodles and nasi goring kedai (fried rice), biryani in their menu. Their portions are quite huge so don't forget to share your plates or do it family style if in big groups.
Their cocktail menu is very unique and they specialize in mixing liquor with traditional Chinese herbs such as ginseng, wolfberries, ju jus, fox nut, eucommia bark, Chinese dates, angelica root, longan berries, and more. Recently I tried their healing shots which are made with transitional Chinese herbs and have health benefit of strength, libido, healing and longevity.
Their restaurant now a days have long wait time and they don't take reservation. So make sure you add yourself to the line through their online system.
