South park is located right at the end of the busy Vitosha boulevard. It is a great place to have a quick escape from the busy city as it is easy to reach and has a lot of attractions. The park is a favourite place for many people especially in the summer time where a lot of people choose to have a walk even late in the evening.
The park has several artificial lakes and there is a small river crossing the park. The fountains at the entrance facing Vitosha street are especially attractive at night when they shine in their full glory. There are many places to buy just about anything - from American style popcorn, authentic Russian ice cream, boiled corn, candy floss, etc. You will find just about everything you would normally expect to find in a Bulgarian park or an amusement park. There's even an open sky gym for those who want to keep fit.
You will find several cafes, a Turkish restaurant, Dominos and other food places. Right in the middle of the park if you cross the river you will find a little wooden restaurant - "Siesta" (check the Siesta article). It is quite hidden and you might need to wander around a little to find it the first time. They offer pretty decent food, ranging from salads, pizza, fish and various other dishes. The place is usually very busy in the summer so you might need to wait for a table to be seated.
