One of the truly exceptional contemporary and conceptual galleries in Sofia is located on Tsar Ivan Shishman Street, close to Narodno Sabranie Square. It is often overlooked because the entrance is not at street level; instead, there are a couple of stairs that you need to climb.
Testa Gallery showcases trends in ceramics, porcelain, and jewellery with the aim of influencing public perception of contemporary art and design objects. Initially, the gallery's focus was on presenting the work of Bulgarian artists. However, lately, Testa Gallery has featured numerous art objects by foreign artists as well.
The space is compact, consisting of two parts. The front section hosts exhibitions of contemporary art collections, while the second is reserved for annual events. I appreciate that the venue is consistently well-curated, showcasing high-quality and stylish art objects. The added bonus is that you can purchase any piece you fancy from the exhibition!
