Running outside is gradually becoming a popular activity among Tashkent's residents. Like everywhere else, the majority of people do their running exercise close to where they live. Being a loyal resident, I prefer running in my district, along the long canal hidden by the shade of trees.
Seoul Street, in the past known as Baynalminal, was renovated recently and now slightly resembles a traditional South Korean relaxing spot. The wide sidewalk has been adapted for sport activities such as running and riding a bike. Notably, the sidewalk is marked with a special bike lane sign, which is rare to see even in the city center. This exception makes the spot modern, safe and comfortable.
Another advantage is the canal itself, which stretches to the end of the sidewalk. Tall trees with plenty of shade cover the water area and sidewalk part. So far, I enjoy running along the canal, while the cool breeze from the water provides extra energy. However, in summer, the level of water in the canal is pretty low.
For me, the best time for running is in the evening. There are only a few runners, but there are still random people walking across the alley. The only disadvantage is that on the opposite side of the sidewalk there is a roadway.
I love wearing comfortable running shoes, downloading a playlist with cheerful songs, putting my headphones on and saying: "Run Umida, run!"
