Let me tell you the truth: not many locals know about this Indian restaurant. I was so excited when I discovered this restaurant for the first time. For me, it is just a treasure - well for the lady who loves Indian spicy food. There are many restaurants with similar cuisine, I tried many of them. But the dishes offered in Raj Kapoor are really similar to "real" Indian food.
Raj Kapoor restaurant is located in the centre of Tashkent. However, you can't see its building anywhere when you look for it from the Tashkent streets. The reason is that it is located inside hotel "Le Grand Plaza". Most people know this hotel by its previous name "Tata." So only the people who know this restaurant from their acquaintances, or only tourists who have been suggested by tour guides visit Raj Kapoor and therefore, it is never overcrowded.
To be honest, I have never seen local visitors there, except for myself and my family. Usually there are tourists eating and discussing life or business. For those who love Indian rice, Indian bread, chicken curry and dal, I surely recommend Raj Kapoor because all the dishes are cooked by an Indian chef and they are all tasty and yummy. Gosh, I am writing this article and planning my next visit there. I can't help resist spicy Indian food.
The prices are a little expensive compared to average restaurant prices but the food is worth it.
