Sugar and Spice is a shop on Piet Heinstraat in The Hague’s lovely Zeeheldenkwartier district. Above the shop window, it says “Sugar and Spice – and all things nice”, and that is really what the shop delivers. There is an abundance of lovely little things on display at Sugar and Spice — the product range offers anything from stationery, toys and gifts to jewellery, home accessories and souvenirs.
Sugar and Spice’s interior design is charming — they even decorate their shop for special occasions, such as King’s Day or Mother’s Day, Christmas or Easter. What I love about the shop is that you’ll find something for everyone: they have kid’s stuff as well as classy items for older people. You can often find French and British brands: Tiptree (Wilkin & Sons) jams, Beatrix Potter books or toys for the kids. For those who’ve had enough shopping or don’t dare to enter the shop, there’s a wooden bench right outside, inviting you to wait for your shopping companions.
