On a sunny Sunday morning, I often wake up with just one thing on my mind: let’s go to Pistache for breakfast! I’m not a big breakfast fan, but this is the exception to the rule.

Pistache opened a few years ago in a small building opposite the Palace Garden. When I first came to live in the neighborhood, a nasty-looking news agent had his shop here. I always thought it a pity. ‘Wouldn’t it be nice if this was a pretty little lunch café?’, I used to think while passing by the place. Well, I got my wish!

The interior of Pistache is painted pistachio green, hence the name. The owners and the staff are kind and helpful. And the food they serve… it seems everything here tastes a little better than anywhere else. I love to start my day with the granola: a bowl of yoghurt with granola, fresh fruit and honey. It’s called Granolalala… on the menu, probably because it makes you feel like bursting into song. For lunch, I prefer the sandwich ‘Less is More’, a wholegrain bun with avocado, pistachio nuts and a soft-boiled egg. Healthy, but in an extremely tasty way.

Although the interior of Pistache is lovely, it’s probably even better to sit outside on the small sunny terrace against the wall of the Palace Garden. If you feel like it, you can even take your food into the garden; Pistache offers well stocked picnic baskets.
