In Turin, especially in those parts of the city that were built between the late 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, there is a specific kind of household called "a ballatoio". They are multi-storey buildings where the distribution and the access to the apartments happens from long, continuous balconies. This type of housing is also called "case di ringhiera", which means "railing houses".
With its name, Ballatoio - Bistrot di ringhiera refers to this typical kind of buildings that are spread all over Turin. The restaurant is quite small but extremely welcoming and warm. The atmosphere is quiet and somehow makes you feel as if you were in Paris, in one of those timeless bistros.
The menu both at lunch and at dinner presents an innovative interpretation of traditional Italian and local recipes. The quality of the ingredients is really high and the presentation of the dishes is extremely neat as well.
Ballatoio is a very nice option for a stylish lunch break... if you remember to reserve a table!
