There are many, many bars along the Donaukanal. Some more popular, some less, some more fancy, some less. In the summer, it can get very busy on the north side of the Kanal, with everyone either sitting in these bars or directly at the Kanal, people strolling by, walking their dogs, riding their bikes… Sometimes, that’s all fun and OK, but some other times I just want to chill and have a bit more peace but still be there. You know, have my cake and eat it too.

There is actually a simple solution – the south side of the Kanal. Specifically, the steps across from the bar Adria. The steps lead directly to the water, and several trees are above them, so this is pretty much the perfect spot in summer since there is almost no shadow on the north side. You can enjoy the closeness of the water, the shadow from the trees, a cool drink, and watch the hustling and bustling on the other side.
