Did you know Warsaw has got its own cuisine? We have some dishes which we can consider "Varsovian". In my opinion the best place to try them is Szynk Praski. The whole interior just adds to the flavors of the food - there is old furniture, photos, plates and music. The place where the restaurant is located is pretty climatic too. Stalowa street in Praga is one of the oldest streets in Warsaw, it hasn't been changed so much since before the Second World War. Additionally on the building's facade you can still see more than 100-year old advertisements. But the best thing in Szynk Praski is definitely The Food.
Mariusz and his mother - the creators of the place - spent one year to prepare all the things in the restaurant. Mariusz was learning the old Varsovian dialect and the menu now written in Varsovian is better than the book! They also spent this year to find old recipes and adapt them to current conditions. Moreover they make every dish from the very beginning - they prepare their own bread and sausages, they buy flour in a mill and eggs in a village.
I really recommend you order "pyzy" for 13 PLN - flour-potato balls served in a jar. It's very typical for Praga and its oldest and most famous market, definitely worth a try!
