If you're a musician and you're in DC on the first Sunday of the month, you owe it to yourself to go to 7DrumCity for their monthly Potluck Jam party.
During the week, this studio teaches drum, piano, and guitar lessons. They also have concerts there on most weekends. But on every first Sunday, 7DrumCity welcomes any and all musicians (and friends) to come and play with other locals. You don't have to bring an instrument if you don't have one. The studio has "house" guitars, electric basses, drum kits, and keyboards. If you don't play any instruments (or you do, but not any of the instruments they have on hand) you can sing.
All skill levels are welcome. So whether you just started learning to play yesterday or you've been playing for 20 years, you can come and float around to any one of the more than a dozen rooms to jam all night long.
7DrumCity requests a $10 donation upon arrival to help support local artists.
This is a "can't miss" activity that I go to every month. Maybe I'll see you there.
