Studio Gallery Washington DC

Longest running artist cooperative

""Studio Gallery" in Washington D.C. is a great place to pop into for a quick dose of inspiration. It's the longest-running artist cooperative in D.C.!"

Studio Gallery is a great place to pop into for a quick dose of inspiration. It is modest, inviting, and housed in a beautiful townhouse.

It is the longest-running artist cooperative in D.C. (It was founded in 1956.) To this day, the gallery is carrying out the mission of its founder, Jennie Lea Knight, to show local artists, find interesting artists to invite to the gallery, and serve the community. Studio Gallery’s members range from emerging to established, and work in a wide variety of media.

The gallery has two upcoming November exhibitions: A Necessary Order, featuring woodblocks by Carolee Jakes, and Peace in Ambiguity, featuring the works of 20 artists that remind us to reflect on the peace and beauty that surrounds us, despite the tumultuous times.

If you’d like to enjoy an art-filled afternoon, stop by The Phillips Collection and IA&A at Hillyer, which are both just a few steps away.
