Trusty's is a relatively quiet neighborhood bar, but not at all far from other places that are interesting to visit. Capitol Hill, the local major league baseball team stadium, and the local professional soccer team stadium are all a short ride away.
If you want to find a local bar that does not have a tourist vibe, Trusty's is the place you're looking for. The menu has many of the typical food options you might expect for a small local bar, but the beer selection is surprisingly broad. You'll note that there are different offers on the first floor versus the second floor. They also have a decent selection of board games that you can play (for free) if you like. My absolute favorite thing about this bar is the short bus inside. It's impossible to not want to have a drink served from a school bus.
Trusty's has a (free) trivia night every Tuesday starting at 20:00hrs and hosts live music on the first Wednesday of every month at 19:00hrs.
