In the quiet neighborhood upon a hill called Šestine, often a starting point for those who are climbing the Medvednica mountain, there is a cafe that offers a spectacular view over the mountain, the surrounding hills, the beautiful St. Emerik church. The cafe bears the Latin name "Non Plus Ultra" (no higher point, no more than this), which is very appropriate because the small cafe is both literally atop a hill and metaphorically the best place around to relax and enjoy the view.
The cafe has indoor seating, with big glass walls, so you can enjoy the view even during winter. However, even the smallest ray of sun invites you to take one of the outdoor tables, sunbathe, enjoy your drink and the view. The cafe offers coffee, tea, cacao, juices, alcoholic drinks and also some snacks (croissants, cookies etc.). Unfortunately, these often run out early, as hungry mountain climbers return from Medvednica and stop here to replenish their energy and relax after a climb. And to be honest, the rest of us like to nibble upon something sweet with our coffees, too.
This cafe has quickly become one of my favorites because it offers great service, beautiful vistas, it's not crowded and it invites you to simply sit and enjoy your day for a while.
