This unusual place, the Museum of Broken Relationships was first opened in 2006 by two artists who had broken up from a 4-year relationship. Their names are Olinka Vištica & Dražen Grubišić and their artistic idea that came from something beautiful that got broken gave this city one of its most original & fun museums.

Located on Upper town (the oldest part of Zagreb), the Museum of Broken Relationships exhibits many items that were left after relationships were broken. Each item represents one relationship & has a story attached to it. I’ve been here three times already and I always take the time to read the stories. They are everything from funny to bizarre, like the items themselves.

The success of this whole ideal grew bigger then what the artists first thought. In 2016 a branch was opened in Los Angeles. Many items were sent to the new branch but many new items from Los Angeles were also sent to Zagreb. The best part is that the exhibition is still growing & that is why I keep coming back to see all the new stories and new exhibits. If you want to share your story and something that was left after your relationship, you can do it on their website.

It’s easy to relate to many stories found here. I think that is why so many people come here & enjoy this fun, artistic emotional roller coaster. It will surprise you how much love, laugh & hope is found here. Love does write the best stories in life!
