Winter in Zurich can be a rather gloomy affair with a continuous layer of clouds blocking the sun and thwarting any attempts of filling up your Vitamin B reserves. All the more reason to cherish days with a clear blue sky and expose yourself to as many sunbeams as you manage to catch. If only Zurich - with its fair amount of narrow(ish) streets and high(ish) buildings - wouldn’t tend to be so shadowy. Enter the Café du Bonheur.
This little French café with the peacock logo is a true jewel. On the one hand it will let you enjoy a whole afternoon of sunshine bathing without the need to relocate every few minutes - beautiful in summer, utterly life-saving in winter. On the other hand, if the weather’s a bit nippy (or all the outside seating is taken), you can always step inside the cozy café where the cheerful staff acts as a perfect substitute for the sun.
The café serves a variety of hot and cold drinks including the very tasty ‚Rième Limonades‘ and offers an excellent selection of mostly French wines. Three lunch options are served daily (except for Sundays - that’s reserved for brunch) while you’ll find an always changing range of delicious French cuisine in the evening. And for anyone feeling the need for some action there’s always the very old-school pinball machine in the basement where you can retreat to - 'très jolie' indeed.
