At the gates of Enge station, just a few hundred meters from the tracks and in the direction of the clearly visible reformed church, you will find an older, reddish building with a garden that radiates peace and quiet as soon as you enter.
At first glance, some may wonder whether this is a parish hall used exclusively for church purposes. The building is run by the community, and the café inside, run by a group of welcoming, committed people, is open to all visitors seeking peace and quiet.
If you climb the few steps and leave the entrance door behind you, you turn left, pass notice boards offering yoga and language lessons, an unattended seating area mostly used by students for studying, and then enter a bright room with lots of windows and beautiful parquet flooring. I immediately feel like I'm in a different world, perhaps a music school. There are families with small children or dogs, ladies having a coffee, or simply people reading a book for themselves.
I love the fruit tea and the little amaretti. The staff are friendly and attentive and the prices are on the cheaper side, especially considering the central location. The beautiful old sofa, in the style of Loriot, is a wonderful place to linger and discuss or simply look out of the window and watch the people rushing by outside.
