When going to university means going to a 32-hectare park, it must be something special. Indeed Irchel Park is first and foremost part of the scientific campus of the University of Zurich. These 32 hectares will transport you to a world made of natural meadows, hills, and small lakes.
Irchel Park is relatively recent as it was built in the 1980s. One can read on the website of the city of Zürich that the population was first reluctant to this new project. I think that this belongs to the past as I am yet to meet anyone who does not love Irchel park. How could it be otherwise though? It has everything a park should have, with lots of green space to sit down and enjoy the sunny days. The artificial lake and the pond make it what we call urban green and blue space, which benefits the well-being and this doesn't need to be proven anymore. From a personal perspective, I definitely enjoy the presence of water in a park. As much as I appreciate relaxing, I also value exercising. And this is also possible there, with the presence of outdoor sports facilities and some illuminated paths which enable you to enjoy jogging away from the car exhaust system.
Finally, as the park is also part of the university campus, you can also find a place to sit down and have a drink. The atmosphere is definitely student-like!

"Weisses Kreuz" in Zurich isn't fancy - it's probably what some people would call an 'old man's pub', but what other pub has a 'Stammtisch' for regulars?
