This jam session is the most open-minded and the most familial atmosphere I have experienced in Zürich. It is all about bringing people together around music, whether you just started to play an instrument or have been into music for some time. People don’t mind helping each other with the chords and tabs before jamming. It can be based on a song everybody knows or uniquely out of creativity of everybody. I remember being particularly impressed by the people improvising lyrics there, a real blast!
The association organizing this jam is called Resonance. It takes place every Wednesday evening from 7 pm until 11 pm (as the organisation is voluntary, we recommend always checking their Instagram or the WhatsApp group available on their website to make sure the jam takes place). The earlier you come, the fewer people will be there and the more intimate it will be. Around 9 pm is when it usually starts to be more crowded. Dynamo, a youth centre, is now hosting the jam in its room Werk21. The room is intimate, and a bar will provide refreshments for musicians and listeners. Moreover, the building is right next to the Limmat to enjoy some fresh air when needed.
This jam always makes me want to play music, as it seems so accessible and puts an emphasis on developing a friendly community. For a live music experience, where you feel at home with friends, see you on Wednesday at Dynamo!
