If you are an art lover and want to see something more than Riga's official museum exhibitions, the private Mūkusala art salon is the place for you. My husband worked nearby and it was a great opportunity to have a look at what nice exhibitions would take place there. Now I am not so often in the area, but still I keep an eye on their activities.
Exhibitions usually change once every one or two months, but some last longer. They usually have a specific theme (for example self-portraits, posters, sport in art, art of fear, 18-19th century drawings and many others) or are just a certain artist's exhibition.
The art salon is away from the noisy city center and the premises are big enough and well lit for good art. It is not far from the national library, so it's a good chance to see both.
All exhibitions are free of charge. Take the opportunity to enjoy Latvian artists!
Public transport: Bus 10, 26, trolleybus 27. Stop "Celtniecības pasaule".
