Isabelle from Zurich

Hi, I am Isabelle, a Swiss native, made in the 80ies. I have a soft spot for wine, books and sarcasm. When I’m not geeking out over grape facts or losing myself in a novel, you’ll find me chasing nature vibes or hunting urban gems. Spotted by Locals has been in my life for well over a decade. It all began in 2011 with a Spotted by Locals guide to Marseille. SbL became a steadfast comp...

MINIMUM Zurich

On top of things – climbing hall

"MINIMUM is a cozy boulder hall with 100m² of routes for all skill levels. Rent climbing shoes and start climbing. As a reward, enjoy their homemade food!"

MINIMUM is one of my favorite places to escape from the rain. In this boulder hall, 1000 square meters of artificial rock await to be conquered with your bare hands. You are always at jump height, so no ropes are needed. The only equipment necessary is climbing shoes, which you can rent when you get your ticket. There are different routes and difficulty levels. No matter your climbing experience, there’s always a sense of achievement when you reach the top. The welcoming atmosphere and helpful staff make it a great spot for anyone curious to try bouldering for the first time.

After the mental challenge and physical activity, I love grabbing a bite at the restaurant or the beer garden to fuel up. It's super cozy, and the homemade soul food is finger-licking good...

Nice to know: MINIMUM has a second branch in Oerlikon (Leutschenbachstrasse 44, 8050 Zürich).

Rigiblick

Alpine panorama within easy reach

If you are short on time, Rigiblick is the easiest option in my opinion for spotting the Alps. To get the best views, make sure the skies are clear.

Kunsthaus

Art lover's must

Enjoy the incredibly aesthetic brutalist open space with high ceilings, soft concrete, and brass-finished elements. To complete the experience, take a seat in their art deco-inspired bar.

Loorenkopf

Alpine panorama in Zürich

To reach the spot, navigate by public transport to the tram stop Römerhof and jump on a Dolderbahn funicular. From the final stop at Dolder Grand, head to the forest and follow the signs to the Loorenkopf.

Weisses Kreuz Zurich

Weisses Kreuz

Local food, local people

"Weisses Kreuz" in Zurich isn't fancy - it's probably what some people would call an 'old man's pub', but what other pub has a 'Stammtisch' for regulars?

Zufreeden

Gluten free heaven

I particularly like the variety of products they offer, which can make life a lot easier if you are gluten-free and they also have several vegan options.

Stadtgärtnerei

A lush spot in the city

The outside area is also worth a visit. You'll find a beautiful collection of palms and agave in a sandy environment crossed by a water basin with fishes.

Jazzraum

Mehrspur Tuesday jam

The jazz jam session takes place in a small space, which can't fit more than 40 people, and this gives me the impression of experiencing a private concert.
