When I moved here in 2009, I was delighted to find that my flatmate was a climber too. We set out to find ourselves a nearby bouldering spot and came across Minimum…Back then there were plenty of boulderers, but not enough to justify doubling the gym size. In four short years, that became a reality and the place has moved location and evolved significantly. Despite being more than twice the size now, it’s still packed in the evenings! Perhaps because people have cottoned on to the fact that it’s a really friendly place in addition to being the best bouldering option in Zurich.
The facilities are simple but more than adequate. The crowd is varied and international. The atmosphere is its major selling point – relaxed and undaunting. The food is affordable and in line with the philosophy of the patrons. The beer on tap is Amboss – local. Oh, and competitions are held too, for those of you with an appetite for extra challenges – because lifting your entire body weight by two fingers is not nearly enough of one, clearly.
If you go on a Tuesday or Thursday, chances are we’ll be able to indulge in a post bouldering beer together.
If you’re in need of equipment, look no further than Kundalini, where the prices are fair and Thomas is a joy to chat with (not to mention extremely knowledgeable). It always feel good to swipe your card at an independent shop as opposed to at a massive conglomerate, no?
