Ever since I was a kid, I remember that I would go to the Vondelpark with my parents. We would have a nice walk outside, I would play at the playground, and we would finish the day with a visit to Het Blauwe Theehuis.
This funky-shaped building in the middle of the park is a very fond memory for a lot of locals. In the winter, this is where you drink hot chocolate. In the summer, this is where you drink a cold beer. With children, this is where they eat grilled cheese and drink apple juice. It is a place for anyone and everyone.
With a circular terrace, you can sit anywhere and have a view of the park, which is really nice. You order inside at the bar and take everything to the table yourself. It is a good system and a very independent one, which the Dutch like. So, if you are in the Vondelpark and are looking for a place to rest, you know where to go.
