Not only on summer evening but also from the first warm day in spring to the last one in autumn, I love strolling to ‘Ijskoud de Beste’, grabbing a ball of my favourite flavor (well, i have many, actually) and eating it out of the cone while walking on through Noorderpark. Taste and quality are certainly amongst the best you can find in Amsterdam, if you like ‘Italian style’, that is…
The sorbets are fresh and juicy, the milk-based flavours are creamy, both nicely sweet yet not over the top. They always have around 20 varieties at a time, from classic flavors to rather uncommon combinations (try fig and almond!).
Everything is daily, fresh, using good ingredients. Another nice thing about ‘Ijskoud’ is that it is a real meeting place for people from the neighbourhood and it even plays a certain role in the integration of the local Muslim population- during ‘Ramadan’, they are open until midnight :).
I think the coffee is good, too, but I’m not sure if I ever had one so don’t count on me with that.
