At first, I was tempted to call it a coffee shop. But TOKI is actually way more than just that. This local favorite can be found right off the popular Haarlemmerstraat. So while you’re browsing through the endless boutiques here and you’re in need of an inspiring and recharging pit stop, TOKI Amsterdam is the place for you.
Yes, recharging indeed. Because besides the amazing cups of specialty coffee by Bonanza Coffee in Berlin and teas by Bellocq in NYC, the whole vibe and interior just scream serenity. Okay, it’s usually packed with hip folks sipping on their flat whites behind their laptops. But even then, TOKI does the job. Their motto is ‘go slow’ and as a reminder, you can find it plastered all over the place in cool graphic ways. Working behind a laptop here is totally fine, as long as you take it easy. The minimalistic, Japanese-inspired and slightly quirky interior features many beautiful surfaces made of Max Lamb marble – you know, the stuff that looks like nougat.
And speaking of nougat, on the counter you will find a delicious array of sweets. From frosted banana bread to their famous cronut, everything is a dream for a sweet tooth like myself.
TOKI also serves a great lunch with open sandwiches and they even have an alcohol permit for those wanting to recharge with a specialty beer from London instead.
