A great coffee place located in the most quiet area in Exarchia in Athens –actually, it's in my favourite yard of the neighbourhood. The pleasant surroundings and the style of decoration are vital in keeping Faeinon's coziness levels sky-high.
Since the music is not loud at all, this is a perfect place to read or write while drinking a coffee or having a quick snack. You can also sit in the sunny (but not boiling) terrace while you are humming “Here comes the Sun, durururu…” any day but in summer.
If it's lunch time, you can always have any of the dishes that they offer on their menu. I recommend you ask them about the daily dish, as it's not usually listed in the menu. Another great thing that I like about Faeinon is that most Sundays they invite amateur international chefs that prepare their local specialities. Surprisingly, I found myself eating Romanian mamaliga here and the next time French tapenade.
If you go just for a coffee you can – or rather, must- try their carrot cake!
It's a weekend trip moving from central Athens.
PS: Ask about their next karaoke night!
