Hitchcocktales is next to my father's apartment on Porinou St in Athens - right across the street from Froots. Porinou itself is a quiet little side street right next to the Akropoli Metro Station, perfect if you want to forget you're just 100m from the Acropolis Museum and all the bustle of Makrygianni St. I had been passing by this bar for years and I was always intrigued by its inviting exterior. Those pillows and candles they had at the windowsill were the final straw and I decided to visit.
The first time I went there, I was on my own, which was just as well because I struck up a conversation with the barman and waitress in no time. I got a Skin Game gin and vodka sour drink (all cocktails are aptly named after Hitchcock films) which was brought to me in a ceramic tiki statue. It was pretty, but I couldn't see how much drink I had left and thus sipped it up in no time! A bowl of peppered roast pita chips to nibble on was brought to me with my cocktail, which was refilled after I practically devoured its contents in a matter of minutes. Definitely one of the better snacks I've had together with a drink.
Hitchcocktales is, simply put, an incredibly pleasant place that gives off positive vibes. It's in a perfect location—quiet yet central, beautiful decoration, and great people. Give it a shot if you're around Plaka or the Acropolis after dark.

Shedia is heavily focused on sustainability and inclusivity: pets have their own menu, the menu is also offered in Braille, and the oil used is produced by the Niarchos park trees and then recycled.
