I used to have no idea what Ethiopians eat, but I was very curious to find out when we discovered that there is an Ethiopian restaurant at the centre of Kypseli area.
One Saturday night we drove to Naxou street to discover that Ethiopians love meat and spicy food. So spicy that that night I just stared crying when I tasted their eggs with red sauce.
Lalibela is located on the ground floor οf an apartment building, decorated very simply, with wooden furniture and -let's call it- an oasis in the middle of the restaurant! The food is very very tasty, mostly all kinds of meat cooked in different ways - with peppers, ginger and a special sauce called ird. My dearest one is "Tibes Awaze". There's also a variety of vegetarian dishes, like split peas, chickpeas and salads.
Every first Saturday of the month at Lalibela they organise an "Ethiopian buffet" for dinner that costs only €12 per person (no drinks included). If you are in the mood to join, you must make a reservation by calling them. During the buffet you can also enjoy Ethiopian dances performed from a couple of dancers!
Please, after your dinner at Lalibela, do not forget to ask for their famous coffee! At the buffet they serve this coffee together with sugary pop corn - by far the most tasty popcorn I've ever had in my life!

Matchpoint's interior is tastefully decorated, and the music is lovely but my favorite is sitting outside enjoying my drink and watching the world go by.
