About Mr. Christos barber shop, I have been wondering for some time whether it may be interesting for someone visiting Athens. But then I thought, why not? Maybe someone will be in the need of a haircut or a shave or just a freshening up while visiting Athens. This is, actually, how I also started going to Pavlatos myself.
The barber shop is hidden in an arcade, in downtown Athens, in a pedestrian walkway of Romvis street. I like this particular barber shop because it is authentic and still does what it has always done; to treat men of any age, whether it is meant for a haircut or a traditional shave, in a simple, polished and neat environment.
It is considered one of the oldest in Athens and was founded by Mr. Christos’s father back in the ‘70s. Although, don’t be fooled to think that it is cut off from the present -- most of the time the music playing inside is either dance or pop! During the time Mr. Christos is grooming you, you will notice how may people drop by just to say “Hi” or tell a joke, which was very common in barber shops back in the day.
Once you are done, I will have you know that Mr. Christos will check every last detail and perfume you with one of the perfumes of his collection, before you go.
